Volunteer and be a Leader with Project Eye to Eye

Project Eye to Eye is an amazing program that pairs students with learning disabilities and/or ADHD from Columbia with students who have similar diagnoses at a neighboring public elementary school.  Students work together in a mentor/mentee relationship and use art as a medium to work together and build relationships and skills.  The program is currently looking for 2 student coordinators to be the leaders of the group and at least 8-10 mentors.

Before you think "Oh, this isn't for me!" or "I don't like kids!" or "I really stink at art, I couldn't do that!", please at least THINK about it.

Consider:

1.  Remember being a kid and wanting someone older to pay attention to you? Give back by spending some one on one time with a kid who is struggling with the same things you struggle with!  You will learn so much from each other!

2.  You don't have to be an artist.  You don't even have to LIKE art.

The kids are the ones doing the projects--all you have to do is guide them and be there for them.  They look up to you.

3.  Still not convinced?  Think of it this way: It builds your resume.
Future employers love to see resumes full of volunteer and leadership experience!

If you are interested and want more information, please email Jenna Cler, jjc2161@columbia.edu.  To learn more about the organization, please visit www.projecteyetoeye.org.

PCMS for Summer Participants

This summer, Health Services at Columbia will once again offer participants in the campus’s special summer programs access to care in Primary Care Medical Services. The fee for this service is $69.00 per participant.

Health Services requires all participating students provide documentation of immunity to Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) in accordance with New York State public health law. The process for documenting immunity is described on the Columbia University MMR form and at www.health.columbia.edu. Completed forms should be submitted with the standard Program Health Questionnaire for each student.

Primary Care Medical Services providers may, when necessary, refer participants for x-rays, laboratory tests, prescriptions or care by a medical specialist outside Health Services. The cost for these services is the responsibility of the student and their medical insurance.

If you are interested in making medical care available to your summer program participants, please provide the following information to Health Services:

· The names and last 4 digits of Social Security Numbers of all summer program participants who will be eligible for Primary Care Medical Services. Please provide this list in an Excel file to Valerie Browne at vnb1@columbia.edu.

· A completed Summer Program Health Questionnaire form for each student.

· A completed Summer Program Information List (attached).

· A check (made out to "Columbia University ") or an interdepartmental invoice (I.D.I.) for the fees of all students to be covered. Payments should be forwarded to:
