Summer Health ServicesHealth Services at Columbia provides comprehensive medical and mental health care during the summer. Full-time and residential students are automatically covered and may access care all summer. Part-time students who did not pay the Health Service Program fee during the academic year may enroll for $185. Students on Columbia insurance continue to receive their primary care on-campus at Health Services during the summer. Primary Care Medical Services provides care for routine health matters, on-going health conditions, well woman gynecological services and urgent care services for acute illness or injury. After hours a clinician-on-call is available to provide telephone advice about urgent medical conditions. Counseling and Psychological Services provides counseling appointments, consultations, and crisis intervention. CU on the Road Travel Medicine Programs provides information and immunizations for students in preparation for international travel.
I am graduating. When does my coverage end?Graduating students are covered through the Health Service Program for the summer and may continue to receive medical and mental health services on campus through August 31, 2007. Journalism Masters Program Students are covered through July 31, 2007. Do I need a referral for off-campus care during the summer?Yes. Even if you are away from New York City during the summer you need a referral for non-emergency care. Contact Primary Care directly during the summer to request a referral at 212 854 2284. Students who have not been to Health Services before may call 212 854 2284 to receive medical advice and a referral if necessary. After-hours, contact the clinician-on-call at 212 854 9797 for medical or mental health concerns. Do I need a referral for emergency care?No. In case of an accident, sudden acute medical or psychiatric illness you do not need a referral. However you will need a referral for any follow-up care. Contact Heath Services to obtain a referral before receiving the follow-up services at 212 854 2284. What if I get sick or hurt while I'm traveling?Students on Columbia insurance are covered for travel medical assistance through Assist America. Any student traveling on a Columbia program may also contact International SOS for travel medical and emergency assistance. Students must be traveling on Columbia business, but do not need to be on Columbia health insurance to use I-SOS. To access assistance:
