Laura Ann TaylorOutreach CoordinatorAlice! Health Promotion ProgramLaura is a junior at Columbia College and is double majoring in English and Psychology with a concentration in Dance. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Laura loves sunshine, palm trees, beaches, and Inn and Out restaurants. On campus, she is involved in several volunteer organizations and student groups, including Peer Health Exchange (PHE), Project HEALTH, Onyx Hip Hop Troupe, Orchesis (a dance group), Community Impact (English as a Second Language Teacher), Let’s Get Ready SAT Prep, and is a tour guide for the Undergraduate Recruitment Committee of Admissions and Visitor’s office. Through PHE, Laura has acted as a Health Educator and Leadership Council member, teaching health and sex education to ninth grade students in high schools all over Manhattan . In Project HEALTH, she worked with young children with sickle cell anemia to inform them and their families about how to manage SCA and navigate the health care system. As a member and choreographer for Onyx and Orchesis, she gets to do what she love most—dance. Some past experience she really enjoyed: being a PR/Marketing Intern for IMG Artists for Fall 2007- Spring 2008, and working as one of the coordinators of NSOP 2008, Columbia’s New Student Orientation Program. With any other spare time, Laura likes to adventure around New York City , listen to music, talk to people, make people laugh, and shop for groceries at Trader Joes in Union Square. Education
