Dr. Lara joined Health Services at Columbia in 2008. Prior to joining HSC, Regina was the Medical Director for the Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic at the Mount Sinai Hospital, and an attending physician on the Child/Adolescent Psychiatry inpatient unit. She also worked for two years in community mental health in Staten Island. She attended the University of the Philippines (BS Biology) and the University of the East (Medical School), completed a psychiatric residency at Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, and then went on to do further advanced training at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine/Mount Sinai Hospital, where she completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Regina's professional interests include ADHD, especially its more complicated presentations in adulthood, and depression and anxiety. In addition to her work at Columbia, she is on the voluntary faculty of the Department of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai, where she is a supervisor of outpatient child and adolescent treatment cases. Her professional memberships include the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Regina is fluent in English and Filipino.

Dr. Lara is licensed to practice psychiatry in the state of New York.
