Alan MedinaPsychiatristCounseling & Psychological ServicesDr. Alan Medina joined Health Services at Columbia in 1999. Prior to joining HSC, Alan was the associate director of outpatient psychiatric services at St. Luke's Hospital. He obtained a B.A. in sociology from Iona College, a B.S. in biology from Mercy College, and his medical degree from the New Jersey Medical School. He completed residency training as chief resident in psychiatry at St. Luke's Hospital in New York. Alan's professional interests include psychoanalytic psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and cultural issues in psychiatry. In addition to his work at CPS, he holds a faculty position as a clinical instructor in psychiatry at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Alan is a supervisor and clinical instructor in psychiatry at St. Luke's Hospital, where he teaches courses in cultural issues in psychiatry and in personality disorders. Alan is also the medical supervisor of the Riverside Church Pastoral Counseling Center. Education
