Laura Pinsky joined Health Services at Columbia in 1985. She founded and now directs the Gay Health Advocacy Project. Prior to coming to HSC, Laura worked in the Psychiatry Department at Montefiore Hospital. She attended Barnard College and the Hunter College School of Social Work and received advanced training at the New York Freudian Society.

Her professional interests include working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students, students with medical issues including HIV, and with students in the arts and humanities. She is the co-author of The Essential AIDS Fact Book (Pocket Books, 1987) and The Essential HIV Treatment Fact Book (Pocket Books, 1992).
