Elizabeth Stringer joined Health Services at Columbia in 2007. Prior to joining HSC, Elizabeth worked in various clinical settings before beginning private practice 12 years ago. She taught and supervised at The Postgraduate Center for Mental Health, The Training Institute for Mental Health, and Long Island University ’s doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. She holds a B.A. in Theater Studies and English from Yale University . After earning her Actor’s Equity card, she earned an M.A. in Psychology from the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social and completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Adelphi University ’s Derner Institute. She completed an internship in clinical psychology at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center and later completed psychoanalytic training at The Postgraduate Center for Mental Health, earning certificates in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy as well as clinical supervision of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy.  Elizabeth ’s professional interests include psychoanalytic psychotherapy, creativity, couples, and ADHD.

In addition to her work at Columbia, she holds faculty/supervisory appointments at the Training Institute for Mental Health and Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. Her professional memberships include the American and New York Psychological Associations.

Elizabeth is licensed to practice psychology in the state of New York.
