Maura M. BairleyDirectorSexual Violence Prevention & Response ProgramMaura Bairley is the Director of the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Program of Health Services at Columbia. Before coming to HSC as the Program Coordinator for the Rape Crisis/Anti-Violence Support Center in 1999, Maura was the Assistant Director of Project Reach, a multi-racial, youth and adult run community-organizing center in the Lower East Side. Prior to that, she was the Volunteer Coordinator/Community Organizer at the NYC Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project, where she trained crisis intervention counselors and co-founded the Task Force on Violence against the Transgender Community. In her more than 10 years of anti-violence work, she has also trained law enforcement personnel, social service providers, educators, and students about sexual assault, bias crime, relationship violence and other issues. In 2002, Maura was awarded a citation from the Brooklyn Borough President’s Office for her service to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.
Maura is originally from San Francisco, CA and attended Columbia College as an undergraduate. She has a Master’s degree in Social/Organization Psychology from Teachers College Columbia University.
