Karen L. SingletonDirectorSexual Violence Prevention & Response ProgramDr. Karen Singleton joined Health Services at Columbia in 2003. Prior to coming to HSC, Karen completed her internship in clinical psychology at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. Karen returns to Columbia after having been the Coordinator of the Barnard-Columbia Rape Crisis/Anti-Violence Support Center. She completed her undergraduate degree in Women’s Studies and Political Science at Barnard College, and received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The City University of New York Graduate Center. Karen’s professional interests include working with survivors of sexual trauma, students of color, and lesbian, gay, and bisexual students. Karen is particularly interested in helping students of color negotiate their lives at Columbia and working with lesbian, gay, and bisexual students who are in the process of coming out. Karen is also a member of the Eating Disorders Team. In addition to her work at Columbia, she holds an adjunct faculty position in Beth Israel Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry. Education
