Cerebral PalsyGeneral InformationCerebral PalsyCerebral means related to the brain. Palsy means difficulty with muscle control. Cerebral Palsy is a condition that affects the part of the brain that controls muscle coordination and movement. The damage to the motor area of the brain prevents the individual from maintaining adequate control of muscle movement and/or posture. Symptoms can change over time, but by definition, CP is not a progressive disease. Students with Cerebral Palsy may have difficulty commuting to and from class, taking class notes, and finishing exams in the allotted amount of time. They may also have difficulty carrying books and need library assistance when utilizing the library facilities.
