Muscular Dystrophy

General Information

Muscular Dystrophy

Muscular Dystrophy is a genetic disorder profiled by progressive degeneration of the muscles that control movement. People with MD are missing vital information in their genes that tell the body to create proteins needed for healthy muscle development. There are many forms of Muscular Dystrophy, each with their own pattern of age of onset of the disorder, progression rate, and the division of muscle weakness.

Students with Muscular Dystrophy may have difficulty commuting to and from class, taking class notes, and finishing exams in the allotted amount of time. They may also have difficulty carrying books and need library assistance when utilizing the library facilities.
