This training session will cover:
- Fentanyl and opioid overview
- How to use fentanyl test strips
- The different ways to test substances
- Signs and symptoms of a fentanyl overdose
- How to respond to a fentanyl overdose
- What naloxone is and how it works
- How to administer naloxone
- Distribution of fentanyl test strip and naloxone kits
Fentanyl Test Strip trainings are currently offered in-person to all members of the Columbia community, including affiliates on the Morningside/Manhattanville campus and Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Fentanyl Test Strip and Naloxone kits will be available for pickup from Columbia Health, John Jay Hall 3rd Floor (Alice! Health Promotion Office) or mailed to participants upon completion of training. Those attending the fentanyl test strip training must be trained in how to administer naloxone as well.
