Self Compassion: Why It Matters and How to Build a Practice

February 1, 2023
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
America/New_York
Pulitzer Hall, 2950 Broadway, New York, NY 10027 Lecture Hall

Self-compassion has been shown to be a powerful tool for improving coping and enhancing emotional well-being. Join University Life and co-sponsor Columbia Health for a self-compassion workshop facilitated by Aisha Holder, PhD

Dr. Holder is a Staff Psychologist and the Assistant Clinical Director for Outreach and Community Clinical Services for Counseling and Psychological Services. During this workshop, she will discuss the building blocks of self-compassion—mindfulness, self-kindness, and common humanity—as well as explore myths about self-compassion. Participants will engage in experiential exercises to practice incorporating the principles of self-compassion into their daily lives.

Lunch will be provided to registered guests. Please bring your CUID.

The workshop will also be live streamed on University Life’s website. You do not need to register if you plan to watch the event via livestream. You can watch live on University Life's home page, https://universitylife.columbia.edu, starting at 12 PM on February 1.
