Your Health and Well-being at Columbia
Dr. Bernitz's welcome message to students about the well-being resources available to them through Columbia Health.
Dear Students,
As you settle into the rhythms of your classes and campus life, please remember that Columbia Health is here to support your health and well-being.
Register for the Columbia Health ‘Quick Start Guide’ Webinar Series!
This year, Columbia Health is offering a Quick Start Guide Webinar Series to share more about the work of each department. These sessions will share our services, how to make appointments (including same-day), and proactive ways to care for your well-being.
The sessions will begin Wednesday, September 18 and continue through early October. All students who register will receive a recording of the session.
CULTIVATE YOUR WELL-BEING
- Strengthen your well-being toolkit. Attend a virtual well-being workshop on sleep, time management, helping a friend, reducing stress, responsible substance use, and more.
- #FightFlu: Columbia Health will be offering no-cost, walk-in flu vaccinations at Lerner Auditorium (Oct. 28-31) and Geffen Hall (Nov. 7). A limited quantity of special “Fight Flu” Alma and Roar-ee pins will be available to the first 200 students who get their flu shot each day of the fair.
TAKE CARE OF YOU
- Find real time hours for all Columbia Health departments (both in-person and virtual) at health.columbia.edu.
- Make same-day virtual or in-person appointments with Medical Services on the Patient Portal. To consult about an urgent medical concern on the same day, call 212-854-7426, ext 4.
- To get started at Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS), schedule a treatment planning session on the Patient Portal or call 212-854-2878. You can also drop-in to discuss an urgent or everyday life concern or join a virtual support space or in-person support group.
- Reach out to Sexual Violence Response (SVR) advocates 24/7 at 212-854-4357 (HELP).
- Register with Disability Services to request academic and campus accommodations.
- Connect with Alice! Health Promotion to talk about campus resources, sleep, time management, or smarter substance use. Alice! also supports students with sexual and reproductive health services for students of all gender identities and orientations. Virtual and in-person appointments and drop-in hours are available.
- Find accurate, trustworthy, culturally humble health information on thousands of health-related questions on our award-winning Go Ask Alice! website.
BUILD A COMMUNITY OF CARE
- Help end relationship violence: SVR is hosting events to engage the campus community for Relationship Violence Awareness Month in October. Follow @columbiahealth on Instagram to learn more.
- Learn how to use fentanyl test strips or how to reverse an opioid overdose: Sign up for a naloxone training or fentanyl test strip training to help save lives.
