Columbia University EMS (CU EMS)

Columbia Health provides Emergency Medical Services through CU EMS, a 24/7 ambulance service. If you need to request CU EMS, call Public Safety at 212-854-5555 and ask for CU EMS. 

In case of life-threatening emergencies, call 911 immediately or go directly to the nearest emergency room. 

CU EMS at Columbia Health 

Columbia University Emergency Medical Service (CU EMS) provides basic life-support and prehospital emergency care. We also provide ambulance transport to area hospitals and can facilitate quick referrals to other Columbia resources.  

CU EMS is certified by New York State Department of Health and is a free and confidential student operated-volunteer ambulance corps. They serve the Morningside and Manhattanville campuses and are available 24/7. CU EMS is dispatched by Public Safety. 

Who is eligible? 

CU EMS is available for students on Morningside, Manhattanville, and Barnard campuses. This includes affiliate campuses (Union Theological Seminary, Jewish Theological Seminary, and Teachers College). CU EMS is also available to staff and faculty on the Morningside campus.  

How do I request assistance from CUEMS? 

To request CU EMS in an emergency, call Public Safety at 212-854-5555 and ask for CU EMS. 

How much will it cost? 

Students will not pay any additional costs for using CU EMS.  

If you are brought to the emergency department, you may incur costs associated with your visit.
