Temporary Order of Protection at Columbia Health
Sexual Violence Response (SVR) can facilitate online Orders of Protection for survivors facing intimate partner, dating, domestic, family, or relationship violence. SVR works in partnership with the New York State Unified Court System and is a Remote Temporary Order of Protection (TOP) site in New York State. This helps reduce barriers to accessing this resource for survivors in need of immediate protection.
Who is eligible?
In New York State, survivors of intimate partner, dating, family, domestic, family, or relationship violence actively working with an authorized site like Sexual Violence Response (SVR), may be eligible to file a TOP.
How do I get a temporary order of protection?
To receive a TOP, you need to connect with SVR to discuss your options with an advocate. To do so, you can:
