This training session will cover:
- Opioid and fentanyl overview
- Opioid use disorder and medication for opioid use disorders
- How to use fentanyl test strips and the different ways to test substances
- Signs, symptoms, and risks of an opioid overdose
- What naloxone is and how it works
- Response steps for a suspected overdose, including how to administer naloxone
- Good Samaritan Law, campus policies, and available resources
- Fentanyl test strip and naloxone kit distribution
Fentanyl test strip and naloxone trainings are currently offered in-person to all members of the Columbia community, including Barnard College, Teachers College, Union Theological Seminary, Jewish Theological Seminary, and Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
Attendees will be able to take a fentanyl test strip and naloxone kit or a naloxone kit only.
