During the 2022 Columbia University Commencement ceremonies, Columbia Health SVP Dr. Melanie Bernitz was awarded the Nicholas Murray Butler Gold Medal along with other members of the President’s Advisory Task Force on COVID-19, who were charged with ensuring the health and safety of the University community, maintaining financial stability in unprecedented times, and providing facilities equipped to manage the threat of the COVID-19 virus. The Nicholas Murray Butler Medals are awarded every five years to individuals anywhere in the world "who have made distinguished contributions in academic administration or in furtherance of the work of the University."  Read the full story

In addition, Dr. Bernitz received the Allan Rosenfield 2021 Alumni Award for Excellence from Mailman School of Public Health alongside COVOD-19 Task Force members, Dr. Wafaa El-Sadr and Dr. Donna Lynne.
