Columbia Health is proud to announce Columbia University Emergency Medical Services (CUEMS) has been granted the “Striving for Excellence in Campus EMS” Award by The National Collegiate Emergency Medical Services Foundation (NCEMSF), an honor the team holds for a three-year period.

To receive this award, CUEMS completed an intensive self-evaluation of their services, including the delivery of care, training and continuing education of employees and volunteers, and service to the community. With this award, CUEMS - along with fellow recipients - is recognized as an example to other campus EMS organizations that are newly starting or are still developing their programs.

CUEMS has received this award consecutively since 2000, one year after the recognition program’s creation.

CUEMS is a division of the Columbia University Department of Public Safety and Columbia Health and has been serving the Columbia Community since 1968. The corps currently has approximately 40 active members and responds to over 1,300 calls per year.
