On Thursday, March 14, Columbia Health Sexual Violence Response's Senior Executive Director La'Shawn Rivera will join a panel of advocates and activists to address access to justice for survivors of sexual violence, building upon the landmark adoption of the 2022 General Assembly Resolution on "International cooperation to provide access to justice, legal resources, and assistance to individuals who have survived sexual violence," and the subsequent establishment of an International Day.

Many victims and survivors don't seek justice or support because of shame, loss of faith in the system, and fear of their perpetrators; it is imperative to improve the systems that ensure access to justice for the victims.

This event addresses the actionable steps from UN resolution to keep advancing and enhancing efforts for Access to Justice for Survivors of Violence Against Women Worldwide.

This panel discussion explores access to justice across a variety of perspectives, including NGOs, academic, the arts, grassroots organizations, and New York City's municipal government.

This panel aligns the main themes of this year's 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women: social protection systems, access to public services, sustainable infrastructure for gender equality, and the empowerment of women and girls.

The event is open to all.
