24 April 2019 – Columbia Health is pleased to announce that for the 2019-2020 academic year Columbia University is offering a single, platinum level plan to meet students’ health-related needs beyond the on-campus services offered by Columbia Health. This approach simplifies the process for all students and clarifies the cost and benefits of the Columbia Student Health Insurance Plan.

Highlights:

  • $0 deductible
  • Consistent out of pocket maximum
  • No changes to benefits from the current year
  • Co-pays for medical ($30) and mental health ($20) visits
  • Pharmacy co-pays ($15 generic, $50 preferred brand)
  • Co-insurance (10%) on in-network services (e.g. laboratory, radiology)
  • Annual premium of $3,433 for students
  • Full details to be posted online in May.

In response to student feedback, we are pleased to introduce a new voluntary vision plan ($65/year) in addition to the voluntary dental plan ($413/year).

Put together, these medical, dental, and vision options provide a comprehensive coverage package for our students at prices substantially lower than plans offered via the New York State Healthcare Marketplace.

Moving to a single plan has enabled Columbia Health to offer comprehensive insurance coverage for students at a much lower premium increase compared to marketplace plans.

Columbia Health is thrilled to be able to provide a plan that complements the on-campus services and supports student health to facilitate the achievement of students’ personal and academic goals.
