COVID-19 Vaccines

The CDC has authorized a new monovalent vaccine for COVID-19.  This new version is recommended for anyone aged 6 months or older that has not received a vaccine in the past 2 months or not had COVID in the past 3 months. Columbia Health has received a limited supply of the new vaccine.

The new vaccine is no longer available via governmentally supported distribution.  For most individuals the vaccine will be covered by your health insurance plan.  If not covered you will need to pay out of pocket to be vaccinated.

Students on the Columbia University Student Health Insurance Plan

A limited supply of the vaccine is available on campus from Medical Services with no out-of-pocket costs.  Please call 212-854-7426 to schedule a nursing visit for a vaccine.

Full-time Students NOT on the Columbia University Student Health Insurance Plan

Students that have paid the full-time Health & Related Services Fee may receive the vaccine at Medical Services with a cost for the vaccine but no visit fee. The cost is $125, payable in full before you receive the vaccine. A receipt will be provided if you want to submit a claim to your health insurance company, but Columbia Health cannot guarantee your insurance plan will reimburse you.

It may be more cost effective to visit a nearby pharmacy that participates in your insurance plan.  For many insurance plans, COVID vaccines received via an in-network pharmacy have no out of pocket costs. We strongly recommend you consult your insurance plan benefits documents prior to seeking the vaccine.

Part-time and Half time Students NOT on the Columbia University Student Health Insurance Plan

Students that have paid a reduced Health & Related Services Fee may receive the vaccine at Medical Services with a cost for the vaccine plus a one-time visit fee. The cost is $225 payable in full before you receive the vaccine.  A receipt will be provided if you want to submit a claim to your health insurance company, but Columbia Health cannot guarantee your insurance plan will reimburse you.
